Spring is officially here. It’s been a long-awaited event for me. I’ve seen a lot of snow this winter, and lots of cold weather…so looking for the first hints of green grass and crocuses blooming has excited my heart. Yesterday, the first day of Spring, I saw jonquils…dozens and dozens of beautiful yellow jonquils. My heart jumped, I felt the sunshine, and I smiled. Spring, finally!
This morning I got to thinking about those bulbs planted, the ones that need to be covered in dirt through the winter. I love tulips and iris’, and is so exciting come Spring to watch for their shoots to pop out of the earth, and then to watch them bloom in all their dazzling colors. But it took planting them in the fall, covering them with dirt, and waiting.
How like us. Many times we have to give our prayers to God, and walk away from them. We have to trust that He is tending them, trust that He will answer, trust that He will provide. And often, it seems like a long, long time before we see results. We have to endure the winter. All the time having faith that we know God is in control. Having faith that the bulb has been planted and will grow.
Then comes our Spring! The shoots begin to appear, we begin to see and feel prayers answered. Not only that, but in God’s time, He has plans and answers we never could have imagined! The one prayer we offered has been answered in so many ways. The bulb has multiplied. Not just one tulip, but many. We have a garden. Letting God tend our prayers has resulted in a beautiful garden. His perfect plan.
