Who would have ever thought it? Not my youngest, she thinks all I know is Kraft Mac & Cheese. Thought I’d share the recipe with you.
Cowboy Chili
Brown: 1 lb. hamburger
1 lb. smoked sausage (halved and chopped)
1 C chopped onion
1 C bell pepper
salt & pepper
Drain and add:
1 C BBQ sauce
1 T liquid smoke
1 Large (or 2 Reg) cans Ranch Style Beans
Simmer and Serve.
It’s just that easy. Have found the key to winning is trying something really different. Think the smoked sausage was the winning ingredient. How you make chili without chili powder is by me, but the name said chili, so I tried it. (Personally I’d call it BBQ Beans, but heck, it won..so I’ll stick with the original name!)
Is a long story as to how I ended up cooking for a chili cook-off, and how the prize got defaulted to the runner-up…so all I came away with was bragging rights! And here I am, bragging!
Someday I’ll give you the recipe to pumpkin fudge that won me the title of “Pumpkin Princess”! That came with a tiara, sash and a ride in a parade! Pretty good considering my daughter thinks I can’t cook.
Blessings to you today 🙂
That is awesome about the chili cookoff!! You have to be a fantastic cook to win those!! Great job something to be proud of!
