Becoming a Grandparent…

“I’m not ready to be a grandma”…that from the mouth of one who wants to “stay young”. Well, let me tell you…the absolute best part of aging and rolling into the 49andcounting stage is becoming a Grammy!

I have a friend who just two days ago welcomed her 16th grandchild in to the world! (She really did, she even got to be there for the home birth! I’m jealous!) And as we speak she is warm way down to her toes with the amazing feeling of being head-over-heels in love with another child.

My best bud (I can tell her all secrets) is just on the verge of the big 50, awaiting her first grandchild. I remember the feelings…giddy, anxious, excited…”am I old enough for this?”  And Wham…when that baby arrives…she will be forever changed…and so happy to be a grandma.

You see…with each new grandchild…our loves just grows.  It’s an unexplainable wonder how our hearts can hold more…give more…receive more.  It’s what it’s all about, isn’t it?  Loving.

I believe it’s God’s surprise blessing to us grandparents…showing us just how much love we can hold in our hearts! (Even 16 times!)  And old?  Who cares about old?  My heart is full!

About 49andcounting

Hi! I'm a mom, wife, grammy, sister, friend at that ALMOST 50 age!! (Okay, since I started this a few years ago...well, add a bit to 49andcounting!) How the heck did I get here so fast?!? I love, love, love- my girls, antiques, rural America, history, Jesus, junkin, the lake and my Big Boy...not particularly in that order. It's about time I change this profile a bit. After a year or living in our 5th wheel in beautiful Pennsylvania, My Big Boy and I are back to the Kansas Prairies. And there's just nothing like "Home Sweet Home". Hitting the Big 50 has its own unique, well...let's say...blessings :) So come along, laugh with me...cry with me...praise God with me...and let's do this 49andcounting thing, together!
