How Did I Raise Those Children???

Disciplining children from the Grammy point of view can be quite different than when we were the mommies. I’m afraid to say I parented with the “spare the rod, spoil the child” attitude. And there were quite a few “rods” in my house…the hairbrush, the fly swatter(LOL, my grandchild thinks a fly swatter is for swatting flies!) , a wooden spoon and my hand. I must not have beaten the children, as they’ve all grown up without scars, mental or physical.  But…from the grammy point of view, I believe there are better ways to discipline our children.  My isn’t it interesting how we mellow with age!!

Here’s an idea I found on Pinterest, that I think is wonderful for calming a wild child, and lots of fun to make together.

Mix 1 tablespoon of pink glitter-glue with about 1 cup of hot water, then added pink food colouring and a tiny tub of glitter.
The glue makes the water so thick and gooey that the glitter just slowly and gently swirls around, it takes about 5 minutes for all the glitter to settle, perfect to gather your thoughts!

Now that I think about it, I may just make an extra…Grammy needs a “Calming Jar” every once in awhile!

About 49andcounting

Hi! I'm a mom, wife, grammy, sister, friend at that ALMOST 50 age!! (Okay, since I started this a few years ago...well, add a bit to 49andcounting!) How the heck did I get here so fast?!? I love, love, love- my girls, antiques, rural America, history, Jesus, junkin, the lake and my Big Boy...not particularly in that order. It's about time I change this profile a bit. After a year or living in our 5th wheel in beautiful Pennsylvania, My Big Boy and I are back to the Kansas Prairies. And there's just nothing like "Home Sweet Home". Hitting the Big 50 has its own unique, well...let's say...blessings :) So come along, laugh with me...cry with me...praise God with me...and let's do this 49andcounting thing, together!
