Like millions of others, I tuned in to the “X Factor” last night, and wow, was it a great show! This morning as I wake, I feel compelled to write.
Never in all the years of watching “American Idol” or “Dancing With The Stars” for that matter, have I texted a vote. I’ve watched pretty faithfully, but never made the step of texting (of course, I’ve recently just learned to text my children!) and I don’t know if texting is going to be a part of “X Factor“, but if so, I will learn!
I realize your qualifications for judging are much greater than mine, but here is what I want to tell you. I’m a, well let’s just say 49andcounting grandma, who would not get three votes, you know what I mean. My memory is falling apart, so when my husband came home towards the end of your show, I did tell him about a gal who belted out an Aretha Franklin song, and just how well she did…couldn’t remember the song, but knew she had done well.
Here’s the reason I’m writing. It’s the kicker. It’s my unqualified opinion. But as I see it, this is what you want from a singing sensation. At 2:30 am, I was up (the mother nature thing) and for some odd reason as I crawled back in bed I had to ask myself, “why am I singing ‘I Want To Be a Natural Woman’?” In my mind, I sounded good:) Then it dawned on me, that’s the song, that’s what the lady sang. This morning, early I’m still singing it. So Simon, there’s your winner. She could be the one. She’s got me singing in my sleep. Me, a grandma from Kansas!
Simon, between you and me, I’ve got the littlest crush on you (we won’t tell my husband) and by the way, if I could rap…I know I’d be singing “Yo, Homie” (whatever that means!).
Sincerely,
You crack me up. We are soooo alike it is amazing. I also have a little secret crush on Simon, watched American Idol faithfully, even DVR’d it, watched X Factor last night and was blown away by the Aretha F. song that the black lady did. I didn’t get the Yo Homey song so dvr’d past it. (I was taking a bath and went back and watched what I had missed). I love your blog and keep some of them to reread later. P.S. I, too, am a treasure hunter and love auctions and garage sales. Even work for an auction company part time on weekends, away from my “real” job. My husband always says, “don’t buy more then your paycheck will be”. Little does he know that I most often take some cash in case my bill runs up more then my paycheck will be when I write the check. KS women are so clever!!!

Ah, we must be kindred spirits! When I lived in KS I worked for a realty and auction company. Was my favorite job, well, until I started volunteering at the thrift store! Lol!
