I find it really funny that you’ll never hear the phrase, “you’re only as old as you feel” coming out of the mouth of a twenty-year old, or even a thirty-year old! Yes, if you hear that old adage (no pun intended)..it’s coming from the mouth of someone with a receding hairline or under eye wrinkles!
This weekend I was doing my absolute favorite thing, browsing an antique show, look…doesn’t it make you jealous?
And I felt…”only as old as I am!”…as my 49andcounting back had me stopping three quarters of the way through and saying “that’s enough”!
“I’m only as old as I feel”…I’m 49andcounting, and I feel that way! Some days that’s good, and some days that’s bad. I’m not fifty feeling twenty, I’m not fifty feeling thirty, I’m fifty feeling fifty…and I’m just fine with that!
I’ve been thinking about this topic myself lately…The overall concept of aging has slowly changed over the last few decades. We now have the opportunity to choose for ourselves whether we will be an Edith Bunker 50+, or a Stevie Nicks 50+. Or somewhere in between. 🙂 In other words, 50, or whatever age we are, is what we make it, not what someone else thinks it is! Now, on another topic, ever since I found your blog I’ve been meaning to ask you…what are your plans for your blog once you do actually turn 50? Are you going to bring it to a close at that point, or rename and keep writing? 🙂 I think you should do the latter!
Well, Funny thing…I am 50! As of last February 23rd. But told those that read, I think I will always remain 49andcounting. If you have time to read you might go back to my blogs from last fall/winter and read the countdown! Thanks for reading!
Ahhh, I see…yep, I’m a fairly new reader. I just signed up to WordPress in March with my own blog, and have been slowly subscribing to the ones I like. 🙂
