Bentley, Ks is a located in Sedgwick County. The estimated population is 405. (We’re talking people… dogs and cats not included). Per capita income is $16,011 (much less than the Housewives of Beverly Hills). And last Friday night, 11 girlfriends, daughters, nieces, and sisters had our own version of “Real Housewives”. Ours, of course, was the “hick from the sticks” version, and oh, so much fun!
The occasion-my 50th! Finally, after all this whining, dreading, contemplating, and down-right shaking in my boots, we’re upon the birthday. Actually, is a few days away, but nothing wrong with taking a complete week to celebrate the big milestone!
My girls surprised me with a Slumber Party. Was utterly shocked to see friends that had been my childhood girlfriends who had traveled many miles to be here. And those that are closer, but near and dear to my heart. We did just like we had when I was 13, we put on our pj’s, told stories, giggled, ate, drank a little wine (oh, maybe we didn’t do that at 13), and stayed up half the night.
Not only did we do those fun things. But we gave those Beverly Hills Housewives a run for their money. They may have their plastic surgeon stop by their parties to shoot them up with Botox, or their psychic stop by for a reading…but we had paper plates and flames as we experimented with ‘ear wax candles’ (trying to improve my 50-year-old hearing). And who needs a plastic surgeon, we had two RN’s present. Not only that, but we had our own ‘foot detox’ machine, and took turns, oohhing and ahhing, and ‘oh how gross-ing’…at the stuff that we were pulling from our aging bodies. It was a blast. It was a memory made. And especially, it was a night of feeling very loved, and thankful for the beautiful women in my life.
