This morning I attended church at Church By The Glades in Coral Springs, FL. Wow, Wow, and Wow! It was like going to a Broadway musical (not that I’ve ever been to one) (My musical experience isn’t much more than a High School Production of Sound of Music, but we are talking way over the top of that!) The backdrops, the lighting, the ‘Soul Train’ theme (including a full size train engine on stage!), were impressive. CBGlades is the 10th fastest growing church in the nation. It has seven services on Sunday, and over 6,000 members. It is a vibrant, exciting, technologically advanced place to worship Jesus. I loved it. I kept thinking, “Wow, God…if this is what reaches people, great!” The message was one of salvation, and the worship was all for Jesus.
On Christmas Eve, our family attended the exact opposite. Small Ks town, small Methodist church. The one you see on Christmas cards, with the little white steeple, and beautifully stained glass windows. With our seven, think there might have been a total of 20 people there. Was so sweet, and reverent, and holy, and precious. We sang softly, and praised God for our blessings, and adored Him. It was beautiful. And I loved it.
And in both places, we worshiped Jesus. It didn’t matter the size, or the music, or even the preaching style of the pastor. What really mattered was the heart, coming to church to find Jesus.
At times I’m guilty of complaining, and nit-picking. Finding all that’s wrong with worship, rather than right. My prayer is that I will always be open to Jesus speaking to me through the Holy Spirit in whatever worship style He’s brought me to and that I may say, “Here I Am To Worship”.
