Last Tuesday morning I got up at 4am, warmed up the car, scraped the windshield, dressed in layers and headed off to the airport for a flight to Ft. Lauderdale. Note: I was the one at the baggage claim with long sleeves and a winter sweater, having a hot flash. I believe it was 78 degrees when I arrived in Florida. My body and mind were in shock for just a moment.
Then my baby sister whipped out the tote bag with beach towels and flip-flops and we headed for the beach. Rolled the jeans up, put a clippy in my hair….now I’m feeling Florida. Was a beautiful day. Who’da thought I’d be scraping the windshield in the a.m. and dipping my toes in the waves at noon.
Has been a great week, every time I step outside onto the patio, I take a deep breath, and utterly breathe in the beautiful weather. (Must be like this in heaven.) I hear it’s snowing in KS and PA. Wish everyone could have a reprieve like this, think I’ll be okay with winter when I get back.
Have had a lot of fun with my mom & sister. Shopping and eating, and shopping and people watching, and shopping. Just can’t find blinged out flip-flops in PA in January! Oh, and eating. Did I tell you that? The first menu I opened, on the beachfront, I knew we weren’t in KS anymore Toto. Panini and Calamari? Excuse me sir? I don’t see chicken fried steak on here!
Last night, we went out for seafood. To die for! My plate was piled high with crab legs. Yummm…delicious. This is the life! And then, in the middle of what was feeling like a great ‘year of jubilee’ experience, I looked at the crab and all that warm scrumptious melted and butter…and…
worried about my cholesterol! But just for a moment.
Insanely jealous! I am getting up my muster to crawl out from under blankets to get the fire roaring. I don’t plan on leaving the homestead today if I can help it. Enjoy lots of crab for me!
Have fun with Shannon and your mom. Tell them hi from me and enjoy that warm weather and especially the beaches!
Michaela,
Do you plan on coming back to reality?
Enjoy the sunshine for us and all the yummy food!!
Please tell Shannon and your family hello from Kansas.
Drive and fly safe.
