Here are photos of two cats I’ve become acquainted with lately. Ollie and The Beast. Ollie lives in a home with marble floors, eats food that costs $15 a bag, visits the groomers regularly, and has his picture illustrated in a children’s book. The Beast sleeps in a Target bed, was saved from a life as a waif on the street, and runs for his life from a 3 yr old most days. Both are lovable kitties, both basically just need food, water and to be loved. The question is, can you look at the photo and tell me just who is Ollie and who is The Beast?
Today I visited West Palm Beach, Florida. Home of the ultra rich. We drove along the ocean front and were awed by the mansions. And as I sat at lunch in City Place Plaza, I wondered about all those around me. And why I felt so much like Granny Clampett visiting Florida. The thought went through my mind…”we all put our pants on one leg at a time”. Just like Ollie and The Beast, we need the same things. But stand me next to the lady to my right and ask the question, who’s from Palm Beach and who’s the tourist? And you’ve got it…I’m the tourist! What gives me away? Her Cartier watch or mine from Claire’s boutique? Her salon cut and color, or my Loreal Complete Gray Coverage? My blinged out Walmart top or hers from Nordstroms. Thank goodness, we’re both just people needing love and care. All the trappings and refinement don’t really matter. And by the way, if they did…I definitely distinguished the difference when I face planted it on the concrete while getting off of the elevator!!
