Thankful

Lord, I’m thankful for the usual…my family, health, a warm bed to sleep in, friends,  a bountiful table. Yes, all those things I am very thankful for. But do I take the time to tell you just how thankful I am for…jalapeno jelly (just that little word “jalapeno” scares so many away from something absolutely scrumptious), roly-poly bugs (for the guy who created mosquitos and flies and didn’t do so well…you did great with roly-poly bugs..hours of entertainment), clouds (all I have to say is “wow, God!”, but I’m especially fond of clouds from the airplane window and clouds during a thunderstorm), conditioner (yip, from a household with three girls with amazingly thick hair I question how I would live on any given day without conditioner), my coffee grinder (the aroma that wafts through the kitchen while I’m grinding those beans is comparable to being zapped by an electric cattle prod.  I feel like it’s probably your way of saying “wake up, Michaela, wake up”.  Love it, love it, love it), electricity (I’m convinced that had I been a Pioneer Woman, I would have been in a constant state of depression, reading books by candle light is just not enough light therapy for me), which, of course, moves us on to tanning beds (I’m not an addict or anything, but a few trips to the tanning bed in the Spring definitely have this girl feeling that “brown chunky” is much more beautiful than “white chunky”).

Lord, I pray that my eyes will always be open to the everyday blessings you bring me.  I pray that I will smile and laugh as I realize each one, and just in case I don’t stop and tell you “thank you”,  that you will know how thankful I am to you when my heart smiles 🙂

About 49andcounting

Hi! I'm a mom, wife, grammy, sister, friend at that ALMOST 50 age!! (Okay, since I started this a few years ago...well, add a bit to 49andcounting!) How the heck did I get here so fast?!? I love, love, love- my girls, antiques, rural America, history, Jesus, junkin, the lake and my Big Boy...not particularly in that order. It's about time I change this profile a bit. After a year or living in our 5th wheel in beautiful Pennsylvania, My Big Boy and I are back to the Kansas Prairies. And there's just nothing like "Home Sweet Home". Hitting the Big 50 has its own unique, well...let's say...blessings :) So come along, laugh with me...cry with me...praise God with me...and let's do this 49andcounting thing, together!

Have you ever been zapped by a cattle prod?!? Well I was today and believe me the smell of freshly ground coffee beans is a MUCH more pleasant experience! Keep up the good work, I knew you make a good blogger : )
